Blogging experts will tell you that consistency is a factor in a successful, highly-read blog. How often you write determines how much it is seen, and how it affects the search engines, especially if you pepper your blog with your keywords. Two to three times a week is good; at the bare minimum, you should post something new once a week. The worst thing you could do is to write every few months. Your content gets stale, and without new content, your readers will no longer have a reason to drop by.But I often hear the same excuse from many Hawaii wedding professionals who have a blog:
"I don't have time to write on my blog!"
I agree. When things get especially busy (particularly during the summer "wedding season"), no one really has the time to write new content and stay on top of their blog.
So what do you do?
Here's how to consistently add new posts to your blog.
Dedicate one day, once a month, to writing posts. Choose a day that you can focus in and write, because that's all you'll really do that day.
Leading up to that date, come up with topics, issues, or things you want to write about. What to you write about? Write about your field, about you, about other Hawaii wedding professionals, about your clients and their Hawaii weddings/special events. There's so much inspiration out there; you simply have to find it. Stay tuned for an upcoming post on finding topics to write about in your blog.
On the date you reserved to write...write! Spend the day composing your messages, formatting the look that you want (using the preview function of whatever blogging platform you use), and making it ready to be published. BUT DON'T PUBLISH YOUR POSTS! At least, not right away...Instead, SCHEDULE your posts to be published at later dates, in timely intervals. Time it so that 2-3 are published per week. It's tempting to publish ALL of your posts NOW, but don't. Give your readers something to keep coming back to. If they know that they'll get a new message from you in a few days, it gives them a reason to check in.
In doing this, you can consistently "post" new content on your blog, even though you may get so busy that you don't actually have time to write! And when you are constantly publishing new material on your blog, you will build your search engine ranking, your readership, your business, and ultimately...your bottom line.
